Shopify — three connection tiers, from domain-only to approval-gated store writes

TL;DR

Shopify connects at three levels so you grant only what you need. The store domain alone unlocks catalog, product and cart tools with no credentials at all. An Admin token adds orders, customers and a sales summary. Write scopes on that token allow product, price, inventory and collection changes — every one approval-gated.

What shipped

  • Tier 1 — domain only: public catalog search, product details, cart building, store policies. No credentials.
  • Tier 2 — Admin token: orders, admin-side products including drafts and live inventory, customers, and an aggregated sales summary.
  • Tier 3 — write scopes: Admin mutations for products, prices, inventory and collections, each pausing for approval.

Why it matters for ad ops

Store data is what turns platform-reported conversion value into real profitability. Reconciling ad spend against actual orders — after refunds, returns and discounts — is the difference between a ROAS dashboard and a number you'd defend in a budget meeting.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to give Agent Planners an Admin token?
Not for catalog access — the store domain alone covers that with no credentials. An Admin token is only needed for orders, customers and sales data.
Can the agent change my Shopify store?
Only with write scopes granted on the token, and every mutation pauses for your approval before it applies.
