AI agent for Reddit Ads: reports, budgets, bids and paused-first campaign builds
TL;DR
Reddit Ads connects through Reddit's own sign-in and reads every ad account your Reddit login can reach, grouped by business. The agent reports on performance within the limits Reddit's API sets, explains who changed what from the account's change log, and changes status, budgets and bids — each change approved by you, checked against the ad account you selected, and new objects always created paused.
Connecting it, and what it asks for
- 1Open Integrations and click Connect on the Reddit Ads card.
- 2Sign in to Reddit with the account that has a role in your Reddit Ads business, and allow access.
- 3Pick the ad account for the task, then write the goal.
The authorization asks for two Reddit Ads scopes:
adsread and adsedit — plus adsconversions when the deployment opts in to the Conversions API. Nothing outside Reddit Ads — no messages, no profile access beyond your Ads membership; posts are created only as ad creative on the brand's profile, with a person's approval. A first goal worth typing: Which communities spent money last month without a single key conversion? What the agent reads
- Every ad account your Reddit login reaches, with its business, currency, time zone and approval status.
- Campaigns, ad groups and ads — objective, status, budgets, bids, pixels, review status.
- Performance reports broken down by campaign, ad group, ad, day, hour, country, region, community, interest, keyword, placement or device.
- The account's change history: who changed a budget, bid, status or targeting, and when.
- Funding instruments, and whether they can currently pay for delivery.
- Anomaly detection on spend, clicks and key conversions against a weekday-aware baseline.
What the agent changes — all of it approval-gated
- Pause and activate campaigns, ad groups and ads.
- Budgets — on the campaign under campaign budget optimization, on each ad group otherwise. The agent reads which one applies before it writes.
- Bids on ad groups.
- Create campaigns, ad groups and ads. Every one starts paused, whatever the request said.
- Targeting, schedules and destinations — an ad group's communities, interests, keywords, locations and audiences, when it delivers, and an ad's click URL. The object is read first and the approval shows it before and after.
- Audiences — saved audiences, pixel or engagement retargeting audiences, and customer lists. A customer list is filled only with identifiers canonicalized and SHA-256 hashed on our servers; plaintext never leaves, and a preview shows what would be sent without sending it.
- Creative — images and videos uploaded into the profile's asset library from a public https URL Reddit downloads (never a local file), and an ad's post swapped to change its creative or landing page.
- Posts — the post an ad promotes, created on the brand's profile. A post is public and the Ads API cannot delete it, so a person approves every one.
- Conversions API — server-side conversion events, in TEST mode unless a live send is asked for; a live send needs a person, and the optional
adsconversionsscope plus a Re-authorize. - UTM parameters — click-URL parameters merge by name onto the ad's own, so setting one never drops the others.
- Archive and delete campaigns, ad groups, ads, audiences and creative assets — each one only with a person's approval, as described below.
- Anything else on the write allowlist, through a parameterized gateway — still gated, still bound to the selected account.
Archiving and deleting are offered, and a person approves every one — as does creating a post (
create_post), deleting a creative asset (delete_creative_asset) and a live conversion send. They are never auto-approved, never part of a batch, and never applied by a schedule or an autonomous API key — a human approves each one after seeing the object as it is now. Reddit documents no way to un-archive, and a campaign, ad group or ad can be deleted only after it has been archived for three hours; the agent checks both and says when a delete becomes possible. Pausing stays the reversible way to stop delivery, and it is what the agent proposes when that is all you meant.Things worth knowing before you plan around it
- One Reddit login can reach many ad accounts, so every write reads its target first and refuses one that belongs to a different account than the one you selected.
- Reddit's reporting allows at most three breakdowns per report, and only one of community, interest, keyword or language at a time. The agent splits a wide question into several small reports rather than failing.
- Numbers take up to six hours to settle, and late conversions revise earlier days, so reviews end at yesterday.
- Ad accounts shared into your business from another business may not appear in Reddit's listing. Connecting with a member of the owning business fixes that.
- Amounts are shown in each ad account's own currency, in whole units.
Frequently asked questions
- Does Agent Planners support Reddit Ads?
- Yes. Twenty-eight reads and thirty-one approval-gated writes cover reporting, campaigns, ad groups, ads, pixels, funding, the change log, status, budgets, bids, creative uploads, posts, conversion events, customer lists and paused creates.
- Can the agent spend money on its own?
- Only if you let it. By default every write waits for your approval. If you turn on auto-approve for a task or schedule, or use an API key minted for autonomous writes, a budget or bid change far outside the current value — or removing a spend cap altogether — is still blocked rather than applied, and new campaigns, ad groups and ads are always created paused.
- Can it delete or archive campaigns?
- Yes, but never on its own. Archiving or deleting a campaign, ad group, ad or audience needs a person's approval every time — it is never auto-approved, batched, scheduled or applied through an autonomous API key. Reddit documents no way to un-archive, and a campaign, ad group or ad can be deleted only once it has been archived for three hours, so for a reversible stop the agent pauses instead.
- Which Reddit account should I connect with?
- Any Reddit account with a role in your Reddit Ads business. The agent sees exactly the ad accounts that login can manage.
