Post to X with AI: an agent that drafts, schedules and publishes your X (Twitter) posts — with your approval

TL;DR

X Organic is its own connection, separate from X Ads: it posts as your X profile instead of running promoted campaigns. The agent writes drafts that fit X's limits, keeps one shared queue so the same post is never sent twice, publishes on time (X's API has no scheduling, so Agent Planners' queue does it), and reads each post's public metrics. Publishing, scheduling, editing and deleting always wait for a person; reading, drafting and cancelling do not. X charges per API request, and those calls are billed in your workspace's credits.

Connecting it

  1. 1Open Integrations and press Connect on the X Organic card (not the X Ads card).
  2. 2Sign in to X and authorize the app. It asks to read your posts and profile, write posts, upload media and stay connected (tweet.read, tweet.write, users.read, media.write, offline.access).
  3. 3Your X profile becomes an account you can pick for a task, a schedule or a project.
  4. 4Write the goal — for example "draft five posts about our launch for next week, one a day at 9:00".
Once per deployment, the administrator registers the callback on the X app (OAuth 2.0, Read and write) and buys pay-per-use credits in the X Developer Console — X refuses every call without them. The X Organic guide has the steps.

What the agent reads

  • Your recent posts, newest first, with impressions, likes, replies, reposts, quotes and bookmarks.
  • One post in full, with its edit history and until when X still allows an edit.
  • Which permissions the connection holds and what it can do — post, schedule, edit, delete — before it tries.
  • Agent Planners' queue: drafts, scheduled, published and failed posts, and the project each belongs to.

What the agent changes — public posts wait for a person

  • Drafts: post text written from a brief and checked against X's limit (280 weighted characters, a link counts 23), saved in the queue — nothing goes to X.
  • Schedule and publish: now or at a time. X's API has no scheduling, so the queue publishes the post at the approved time.
  • Edit a published post within X's edit window — X sets it per post (30 minutes in X's documentation, an hour measured on a live account), at most five edits, and each edit is a new post id.
  • Delete a published post (on X this removes the whole edit chain), and cancel a draft or a scheduled post before it goes out.
Publishing, scheduling, editing and deleting always wait for a person — in the app, on a schedule, in a project, over MCP and the REST API — even with auto-approve on. Reading, drafting and cancelling follow your normal approval setting.

Things worth knowing before you plan around it

  • X has no drafts or hidden posts on its side: a draft lives only in Agent Planners until a person approves publishing it.
  • X's API cannot change a profile (name, bio, picture) — the agent says so and does not try.
  • X charges per call — $0.015 to create a post, $0.20 for a post with a link, $0.005 per post read — and those calls are billed in credits, only when X accepts them and never twice for a retry.
  • A post made inside a project shows on the project page and moves with its plan item when the item's dates change.

Frequently asked questions

Can an AI agent post to X for me?
Yes. Connect X Organic and the agent drafts, schedules, publishes, edits and deletes posts on your X profile and reads their metrics. Every public post waits for your approval, even with auto-approve on.
Can it schedule tweets?
Yes. X's API has no scheduling, so Agent Planners' queue publishes the post at the time you approved; the same post is never sent twice.
Can I post to X from Codex or Claude?
Yes, over MCP with the social__* tools (list_accounts, generate_post, create_draft, schedule_post, publish_post, list_posts …) or over the REST API. Publishing and scheduling still wait for a person's approval.
What does posting to X cost?
X bills per request: $0.015 per post created, $0.20 per post with a link, $0.005 per post read. Agent Planners charges credits for the calls X accepts — about 100 credits per post and 1,334 for a post with a link.
Is this the same as X Ads?
No. X Organic posts as your profile; X Ads runs promoted campaigns through X's Ads API. They are separate connections and separate tools.
