AI agent for HubSpot: tie ad spend to pipeline and closed-won revenue
TL;DR
HubSpot is connected read-only by default: the agent counts your deals, won revenue and new contacts by the source HubSpot recorded for them, and compares that with the conversions your ad platforms claim. It works in counts and totals — contact emails and phone numbers are withheld from its answers — and on the default connection it cannot change a record, a list or send an email, because the connection holds no permission that could.
Connecting it, and what it asks for
- 1Open Integrations and click Connect on the HubSpot card.
- 2Sign in to HubSpot as a Super Admin (or a user with the Marketplace access permission), pick the portal, and approve read access. While the app is not yet listed on the HubSpot Marketplace, HubSpot asks you to type "I accept the risk".
- 3Write the goal.
By default, read access only: contacts, deals, owners and lists — plus, when your plan includes them, companies, marketing campaigns and campaign revenue, and traffic reports. No default permission can create, edit or delete anything or send email. The connection can see every contact in the portal; the agent reports counts. A first goal worth typing: Which ad channels produced the deals we actually won last quarter, and what did each won deal cost?
What the agent reads
- Deals and closed-won revenue by original or latest traffic source, deal stage, pipeline, owner or campaign — with win rates.
- New contacts by source and lifecycle stage, counted exactly — never listed.
- List sizes, owners, pipelines, the records linked to a deal or company, and your portal's own property definitions.
- Marketing campaigns with sessions, new contacts and attributed revenue; form views and submissions; marketing email sends, opens and clicks (Marketing Hub Professional).
- Landing pages and the portal's tracking-code snippet, so a tracking gap can be found from the ad side.
- Daily new contacts, deals created, deals won and won amount, with anomaly detection against a weekday-aware baseline — and alert rules on the same four series.
Why HubSpot and your ad platforms disagree
- Ad platforms count their own conversions inside their own attribution windows; HubSpot records where each lead first came from.
- A deal's source is copied from its earliest contact, so it tells you which channel brought the lead in — not which ad closed it.
- The agent shows both side by side, with cost per lead, per deal and per won deal, instead of adding them together.
Things worth knowing
- Deal amounts are reported in your portal's company currency; deals in other currencies are listed separately, never added in.
- Campaign, form and email reporting needs Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise; on other plans the agent says so instead of guessing.
- HubSpot limits how fast one portal can be read (and everyone using it shares that budget), so the agent counts and aggregates rather than paging through records.
- A contact's email, phone or name is returned only when a person's own request asks for those fields on specific people — never on a schedule, an API task, an autonomous run or over MCP, and never more than 20 rows.
- On the default connection the agent cannot edit a record, change a lifecycle stage or list, or send an email. When it recommends a change, you make it in HubSpot.
- With the optional write scopes enabled, it can also create and edit companies and deals, add notes and associations, build empty static lists, manage marketing campaigns with their budget and spend lines, upload files, record custom events and edit landing-page drafts — each change approved by you. Contact edits, list membership, tasks, stage or owner changes, deletes and publishing a page wait for a person; a custom event is recorded in test mode unless a person approves a live one; a budget or spend line is HubSpot bookkeeping (nothing is charged) and is capped per line; nothing sends an email or moves money.
Frequently asked questions
- Does Agent Planners support HubSpot?
- Yes, read-only by default: deal and contact attribution by source and campaign, list sizes, owners, pipelines, properties and associations, campaign, form and email performance, landing pages, and daily anomaly detection — seventeen reads.
- Can the agent change my CRM or email my contacts?
- Not on the default connection, which only asks HubSpot for read access. With the optional write scopes enabled it can make approval-gated changes — and a person approves every contact edit, list membership change, stage or owner change and delete. It never sends an email.
- Does the agent see my contacts' personal details?
- The connection can see every contact in the portal, but the agent works in counts and totals: contact emails, phone numbers and names are withheld from its results unless a person's own request asks for them on specific people.
- Who can connect it?
- Anyone who can manage integrations in your workspace, signing in to HubSpot as a Super Admin or a user with the Marketplace access permission.
