Connect Agent Planners to Cursor: marketing data and tools in your editor

TL;DR

Cursor reads MCP servers from an mcp.json file, and Agent Planners is a remote MCP server, so one entry connects them. Cursor can then pull real campaign, analytics and store numbers into the code you are writing, or hand a whole goal to the Agent Planners agent and poll it — without holding any platform credential.

How to connect

  1. 1Open Cursor's MCP settings (or edit ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, .cursor/mcp.json for one) and add a server named agent-planners with the URL https://www.agentplanners.com/api/mcp.
  2. 2Sign in from Cursor when it asks: the Agent Planners consent page opens, where you pick the workspace and approve what Cursor may do.
  3. 3Or use an API key: create one on the API & MCP page, store it in an environment variable, and send it as an Authorization: Bearer header that reads the variable — the file never holds the key.
  4. 4Ask Cursor to call describe_permissions first: it reports the workspace, scopes and connected accounts.

What it is useful for

  • Building a dashboard or report with the real numbers in front of you, not a sample file.
  • Checking that a site change kept its tracking: Tag Manager's live version, Google Analytics events, Clarity's script errors.
  • Pulling Search Console queries while editing the page they rank for.
  • Handing a long audit to the Agent Planners agent and polling it while you keep coding.

Security

  • The key or connection carries scopes; a read-only one cannot change anything.
  • Platform credentials are never sent to Cursor.
  • Writes follow the key's write mode — queued for an admin, or run inside the workspace's guardrails — and a write a platform marks as a person's decision always waits for a person.

Frequently asked questions

Does Cursor need my Google or Meta credentials?
No. Agent Planners holds the platform connections; Cursor authenticates only to Agent Planners.
Can I use Agent Planners in Cursor without an API key?
Yes. Add the URL alone and sign in with OAuth from Cursor.
