AI agent for LinkedIn Ads: B2B targeting, lead quality and paused-first campaign builds

TL;DR

LinkedIn Ads connects through LinkedIn's own sign-in and reads every ad account your login holds a role on, grouped by Company Page. The agent reports within the rules LinkedIn's API sets, finds job titles, functions, seniorities and industries to target, checks an audience is large enough to serve, and changes status, budgets, bids, schedules and targeting — each change approved by you, checked against the ad account you selected, and new objects always created paused or as drafts.

Connecting it, and what it asks for

  1. 1Open Integrations and click Connect on the LinkedIn Ads card.
  2. 2Sign in to LinkedIn with the member who holds a role on your ad accounts in Campaign Manager, and allow access.
  3. 3Pick the ad account for the task, then write the goal.
The authorization asks for the five Advertising API scopes the app holds: r_ads, r_ads_reporting, rw_ads, r_organization_social, w_organization_social; conversion rules and sends add rw_conversions once LinkedIn approves the Conversions API. Nothing that manages your Company Page itself, and nothing that posts as the member unless an operator opts in. A first goal worth typing: Which job functions cost us the most per lead last month, and which creatives are stuck in review?

What the agent reads

  • Every ad account your LinkedIn login holds a role on, with its currency, role, serving status and Company Page.
  • Campaign groups, campaigns, creatives and dark posts — objectives, budgets, bids, schedules, targeting, review status.
  • adAnalytics by campaign, creative, campaign group, company, job function, seniority, job title, industry, company size, country, placement or device.
  • Targeting facets and entities, audience counts, and LinkedIn's suggested bid and budget floors for a campaign shape.
  • Conversion rules and their campaign associations, the Insight Tag and the domains it fires on, the media library.
  • Anomaly detection on spend, clicks and conversions against a weekday-aware baseline.

What the agent changes — all of it approval-gated

  • Pause and activate campaign groups, campaigns and creatives; archive them (reversible on LinkedIn).
  • Budgets, bids and schedules — the bid mode and the bid always travel together, because a bid of zero stops delivery.
  • Targeting — replaced only after the audience count clears LinkedIn's 300-member floor.
  • Create campaign groups, campaigns, dark posts and creatives. Every one starts paused or as a draft, whatever the request said.
  • Tracking — UTM edits on a dark post's landing page and dynamic tracking parameters on a campaign.
  • Conversions — rules, campaign associations, the Insight Tag; media uploads from public URLs.
Deleting anything, archiving a dark post (LinkedIn cannot undo it), publishing a public post, editing a published post in place through the generic gateway, sending conversion events (LinkedIn has no test mode), blocking a domain on the Insight Tag and account access changes always wait for a person, on every lane.

Things worth knowing before you plan around it

  • One LinkedIn login can hold roles on many ad accounts, so every write reads its target first and refuses one that belongs to a different account than the one you selected.
  • Amounts are in each ad account's own currency, in whole units — LinkedIn's API has no micros. Reports and daily budgets run in UTC; an ad account has no time zone.
  • A VIEWER role reads only, whatever the permissions; writes need CAMPAIGN_MANAGER or above. On LinkedIn's Development tier only the ad accounts listed on the app can be edited.
  • Matched Audiences and Lead Sync are pending LinkedIn's review of the app; their tools say so until LinkedIn approves them.
  • LinkedIn's authorization lasts 60 days, or 365 days when LinkedIn issues a refresh token; the card shows the date to re-authorize before.

Frequently asked questions

Does Agent Planners support LinkedIn Ads?
Yes. Twenty-four reads and forty-one approval-gated writes cover reporting, targeting discovery, campaign groups, campaigns, creatives, dark posts, UTMs, media, conversion rules, the Insight Tag, the Conversions API and paused-first creates.
Can the agent spend money on its own?
Only if you let it. By default every write waits for your approval. If you turn on auto-approve for a task or schedule, or use an API key minted for autonomous writes, a budget or bid change far outside the current value — or removing a spend cap altogether — is still blocked rather than applied, and new campaign groups, campaigns and creatives are always created paused or as drafts.
Can it delete campaigns or publish posts?
Only with a person's approval on every lane. Deletes are permanent on LinkedIn, and an organic post is public the moment it lands, so neither is ever automatic — nor is editing a post that is already published.
Which LinkedIn member should I connect with?
Any member with a role on the ad account in Campaign Manager — CAMPAIGN_MANAGER or above to make changes. The agent sees exactly the ad accounts that member can reach.
