YouTube analytics — channel reporting, anomaly detection and alerts
YouTube is now a full metrics source for every organization, not a read-only curiosity. It gets the same three mechanisms every other metrics platform has — anomaly detection, threshold alert rules and scheduled dashboard refresh — which means a YouTube panel can sit in the same dashboard as Google Ads and be monitored the same way.
What the agent can do
- Channel and video analytics — views, watch time, subscribers and engagement, queried in plain language over the date ranges you ask for.
- Anomaly detection, so an unexplained drop surfaces without you going looking for it.
- Threshold alert rules, the same mechanism the ad platforms use — YouTube is no longer the exception.
- Scheduled dashboard refresh, so a YouTube panel updates on the same cadence as everything else.
The scope refusal that had nothing to do with YouTube
Worth recording because the error was actively misleading: Google rejected the YouTube scope set over a Google Drive scope we had never requested. The cause was asking the consent flow to include previously granted scopes — so a scope from an unrelated earlier grant was silently folded into the request and then refused, naming a permission that appeared nowhere in our code.
An error listing a scope you never asked for is a strong hint that something upstream is adding it. That behaviour is now off, and it also fixed a separate case where a connect link could be replayed from cache and ask Google for yesterday's permissions.
Frequently asked questions
- What YouTube data can the agent read?
- Channel and video analytics — views, watch time, subscribers and engagement — over the date ranges you ask for, alongside account management data. It is available to every organization.
- Can I set alerts on YouTube metrics?
- Yes. YouTube uses the same threshold alert rules as the ad platforms, plus anomaly detection and scheduled dashboard refresh.
- Does this let the agent upload or edit videos?
- The scope family covers read, analytics and account management. Upload is not what this integration is for — it exists so channel performance can be analysed next to your paid media.
