Google Ads account health: suspended or not, advertiser verification deadlines, billing and policy in one read
TL;DR
Google Ads account health is one new read that answers "can this account run ads, and if not, why": status, advertiser verification and its deadlines, billing, policy and — for a manager — every child's status. It also states plainly what the Google Ads API will not tell you.
What one call returns
- Status: ENABLED, SUSPENDED, CANCELED or CLOSED. A suspended or cancelled account refuses its own queries, so the manager account's view of it is asked instead.
- Advertiser verification: whether Google requires it, the program, the start and completion deadlines, the status (pending your action, in review, passed, failed), Google's own link to act on it, and whether the deadline has passed.
- Billing: the billing setups and account budgets with their status.
- Policy: ads that are not fully approved, counted by policy topic.
- Managers: every direct child account by status, with the suspended and cancelled ones listed.
What the API does not say — and the traps we measured
- The Google Ads API publishes no suspension reason. Google gives it in the Google Ads interface and by email to the account's admins. The tool says so instead of guessing, and lists only signals the data shows: overdue or failed verification, no active billing, policy topics on disapproved ads.
- USER_PERMISSION_DENIED is not a suspension. It means the connection lost access to the account — reported as "no access", never as "suspended".
- Verification can only be read for monthly-invoiced accounts. For a card-billed account Google answers BILLING_NOT_ON_MONTHLY_INVOICING, so the tool says to check the interface rather than reporting "not required".
- The verification endpoint is rate-limited at every access level, so its answer is cached for 30 minutes.
It is read-only: starting a verification is a write and is not offered. Over MCP it is

- Can an AI agent tell me why my Google Ads account was suspended?
- Not the reason itself — the Google Ads API does not publish it; Google states it in the Google Ads interface and by email to the account's admins. The agent reports the status and the signals the data does show: overdue or failed advertiser verification, no active billing, and disapproved ads by policy topic.
- How do I check Google Ads advertiser verification deadlines?
- The account-health read returns whether verification is required, its start and completion deadlines, the current status and Google's action link — for monthly-invoiced accounts. A card-billed account must be checked in the Google Ads interface, because the API answers BILLING_NOT_ON_MONTHLY_INVOICING.
- Does USER_PERMISSION_DENIED mean my Google Ads account is suspended?
- No. It means the login or manager the connection uses lost access to that account. Reconnect with a login that still has access; a suspension shows as the SUSPENDED status.
