Find the landing pages that waste your ad spend with Microsoft Clarity and an AI agent

TL;DR

Clicks you paid for are wasted on a page people leave at once. Microsoft Clarity records how visitors behave; an AI agent reads its numbers, ranks the landing pages with the most friction and lines them up with your ad campaigns. This guide covers the setup, what to ask and the limits of Clarity's API.

1. Connect each Clarity project

  1. 1In the Clarity project, a project admin opens Settings → Data Export → Generate new API token.
  2. 2On Integrations, press Connect a project on the Microsoft Clarity card, name it, paste the token and press Check and save. One token per project.
  3. 3Pick the project and ask: "Which landing pages had the most rage clicks or quick backs in the last 3 days?"

2. What the signals mean

  • Rage clicks: repeated clicks on one spot — something looks clickable and is not, or is slow.
  • Dead clicks: clicks that do nothing.
  • Quick backs: a visitor lands and returns almost at once — the page did not match what the ad promised.
  • Scroll depth: how far down people get; a low number with the call to action below the fold means few ever see it.

3. Rank pages, then match them to campaigns

The agent ranks pages that had enough sessions (20 by default) by their friction — rage clicks from 5 % of sessions, dead clicks and quick backs from 10 %, scroll depth under 40 % — and states those thresholds in its answer. Then it reads traffic by campaign or source and your ad platforms' final URLs, so a page with heavy quick backs is tied to the campaign paying for those visits.

4. Work inside Clarity's limits

  • The last 1–3 days only. For last week or last month, use the Clarity dashboard.
  • 10 requests per project per day, shared by everyone who connected it. The agent asks once per question and reuses the answer for two hours.
  • Up to 3 breakdowns and 1,000 rows. A list that hits 1,000 rows may be incomplete, and the agent says so.
  • No human sessions means no data, never "zero problems" — bots are counted apart.

5. Turn findings into changes

  • Move the call to action higher on a page with low scroll depth.
  • Fix or remove the element that draws rage or dead clicks.
  • Align the page with the ad's promise where quick backs are high — or change the ad's final URL. Ad changes go through your normal approvals; Clarity itself is read-only.

Frequently asked questions

Can an AI agent read Microsoft Clarity heatmaps and recordings?
Not the recordings or heatmaps themselves: Clarity's Data Export API shares the dashboard's numbers — sessions, scroll depth, engagement and friction signals — for the last 1–3 days. The agent reads those and ranks pages; watch the recordings in Clarity.
Does the agent change anything in Clarity?
No. The Clarity integration is read-only.
