Video ads: quick videos here, close replicas on your own computer
Ask for a video ad and the agent makes it with HyperFrames: your pictures or generated ones, one short line per scene, transitions, an end card and an original music track. Start your request with /copy to follow a reference ad. For a close replica, use your own coding agent over MCP: it does the render on your machine, and Agent Planners supplies the ad libraries, the breakdown, the specs and the review.
Files, tags and folders over MCP
A connected agent manages the Asset Library the way the app does. A folder is a tag on files.
Upload from your computer: internal__upload_local_file (up to 3 MB) or internal__start_local_upload, the command it returns, then internal__finish_local_upload (up to 500 MB). Each takes tags.
Organize: internal__list_asset_folders, internal__list_assets with a tag, internal__tag_assets to add or remove tags on up to 200 files, internal__update_asset to rename a file, internal__update_asset_folder to rename or remove a folder (the files stay). These apply at once because they change no ad platform.
Share and delete: internal__share_folder makes a live link, members only by default. A link for anyone waits for a person, as does internal__delete_asset. internal__revoke_folder_link turns a link off.
Over MCP a tag never publishes a file: adding to a folder that a link shows to anyone is refused, and an admin or editor does that in the app.
The three routes
| Quick video (default) | Follow a reference (/copy) | On your own computer (MCP) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| When | Every video ad | Your request starts with /copy | You want a close replica or full creative control |
| Who renders | Agent Planners | Agent Planners | Your coding agent, with HyperFrames or Hypit |
| How it works | A fixed composition filled with your scenes | A video model breaks down the reference, then the same composition follows its structure | Your agent writes and renders the video, then uploads the file |
| Typical time for 15 seconds | About 2 minutes | About 4 minutes | As long as you iterate |
| Agent Planners credits | About 550, plus 267 per generated picture | About 800, plus 267 per generated picture | About 60 a search, plus each breakdown and review (a few hundred or less) |
Make a video
- 1Turn on Ad creative in the composer, or just ask for a video ad.
- 2Say what the ad is for and where it runs. The platforms set its shape, length and safe zones.
- 3Add your logo and product images to the Asset Library first if you have them. The agent uses your own pictures before generating any.
- 4The agent renders the video and shows it in the task. It is saved to the Asset Library. Nothing goes to an ad platform without your approval, unless you turned on auto-approve. A file a review did not pass needs your own decision either way, and another advertiser's ad is never uploaded.
Follow a reference with /copy
- 1Start your request with /copy, for example: /copy Follow this ad's hook and pacing for my running shoes.
- 2The agent finds the reference and you pick it when there is a choice.
- 3A video model breaks it down: the hook, each beat with its timing, the words, the style. The agent then writes your scenes on that structure.
- 4A reference is studied, never copied: its footage, logos, people, music and wording are never reused.
- 5The word "copy" in a sentence does not start this route. Only /copy at the start of the request does.
Make a close replica on your own computer
This is the best route when quality matters most. Your own coding agent has time to iterate on the real video, and you pay for it through your own subscription, not per render here. Agent Planners' plugin for Claude Code and Codex includes a skill with these steps.
- 1Connect your agent to Agent Planners (see the MCP setup guide). A Foreplay subscription is optional: connect its MCP server too for a larger ad library with transcripts.
- 2Find an ad that has run for a long time, and save it: internal__ad_spy_search, then internal__save_reference_ad.
- 3Break it down: internal__analyze_reference_ad gives the beats, the words and an outline. internal__creative_production_brief gives the sizes, safe zones, file rules and the pass mark.
- 4Render it with your agent, using HyperFrames for product and motion ads, or Hypit for a close rebuild of a reference's pacing.
- 5Upload the file: internal__start_local_upload, the command it returns, then internal__finish_local_upload.
- 6Review it: internal__evaluate_creative with the reference. Its qualityGate says whether it passes, and what to fix if it does not. Repeat until it passes, then upload it to the platforms. Every ad is created paused.
Which tool finds the best ads
No public ad library publishes spend or results for a commercial ad, so every tool shows evidence, not proof: how long an ad has run, how many variants it has, and where it is placed. Meta's own order by impressions and TikTok's leaderboard are the closest public signals.
Agent Planners searches the Meta, TikTok, Google and LinkedIn libraries with no extra subscription. Foreplay is a paid product with a larger archive, spoken transcripts and a filter for the longest-running ads, and it has its own MCP server for your agent.
Upload a file from your computer through MCP
An agent connected over MCP or the REST API can put a video, picture or document from your computer straight into this workspace's Asset Library. Up to 3 MB it sends the file in the call with internal__upload_local_file. Up to 500 MB it calls internal__start_local_upload, runs the one command it returns, and finishes with internal__finish_local_upload. Nothing reaches an ad platform this way, so these calls and saving a reference never wait for approval.
Frequently asked questions
- Why did the agent not replicate the ad exactly?
- Agent Planners makes your own ad on the same structure. It never reuses a reference's footage, people, logos, music or wording. For a closer rebuild, make it on your own computer with your coding agent.
- Can I change a video?
- Yes. Ask in the same task: the agent renders it again with the changed scenes. The same input always gives the same frames.
- Where do finished videos go?
- To the task and to the Asset Library.
- Does a high review score mean the ad will perform?
- No. The review checks the hook, clarity, legibility, pacing and platform fit before launch. Only a live test shows how an ad performs.
